The Natural Hair Contemplation Issue...

For the past year, I’ve been entertaining the idea of the “Natural Hair Path.” I’ve seen so many natural hair styles that are just adorable.  Still, there is the pessimistic view about natural hair that it’s not perceived by some as attractive or presentable. Don’t get me wrong, natural is always  beautiful. I guess we’ve been “brainwashed “by society to some degree that the “nappy” look is not the image we, as black people, should portray.

To me, it is a lot of work to maintain the “natural” hairstyle. Well, it’s the same things that some would say about “chemically” treated hair. But, in my opinion, the natural hairstyle takes far more work to maintain. First, you should educate yourself on natural hair care (which is a process all by itself), learn about the best products, learn how-to create hairstyles that work with the shape face plus some.  As you know, you can't keep the same styles as before with permed hair.  They just won't work. Look, at  this stage in life I just don't feel like making the change. Well, at least I think I don't. So, I'm just thinking about it that's all.

I have a friend that feels if you wear a “perm” you are not natural and not as aware of your “blackness.” What? Give me a break! Does not being in my natural kinky state makes me less of a black woman? Most certainly not. He feels it’s not NATURAL. Pun intended  ya'll. LOL! What does he know? He's bald!

At this point, I'm still on a journey to find my niche.
